I've created a map in illustrator which has twenty seperate layered items, each of which is for a particular area of the map (i.e. the map is cut up into twenty pieces) my intention was to import the layers into indesign so that each layer could then be converted to a button for interactivity. I can't however figure out how to do this.

Under place, import options, layers, I can see the twenty layers. If they're all eyeballed, the image is placed into indesign as one image. If I wanted the twenty layers to be placed as seperate images do I need to place the image twenty times after having un-eyeballed nineteen of the layers, and then line up the full image myself, or is there another way to do this.

      Thanks.

Yes, you'll need to place it 20 times with different choices.

BTW, if you opt/alt + click the one layer you want visible, you'll hide the others.

I learned that if you place a PSD document in Indesign that by opening the layer option box a user is able to create buttons from objects. HOWEVER, my Layer Comp box is greyed out. Would you know why it's grayed out, Bob? or anyone?

NEVERMIND! After further investigation I realize I had not saved my photoshop document with layer comps which is the reason Layer Comp was grayed out!
