I have a logo to knock out of a photo in my idd layout. For some reason it doesn’t work when I place logo.ai … all I get is a white rectangle. It does work when I save the logo as logo.eps and then place that. It also works when I copy/paste it. Is this an idd issue or and ai issue?

Check your import options when you place the AI file and make sure transparent background is checked. I’m guessing your logo is all white or you would be seeing color elements in the white rectangle.

Another tip on white elements. If they “disappear” when exporting or printing, check the overprint options (Attributes panel in both AI and ID). They need to be off. Sometimes black elements with overprinting on are edited to white and the overprint setting is overlooked.

      Hi Bob,

That was it. I put a check in the transparent background box and it worked. You are correct that the logo is all white.

I knew it would be something simple like that! Thanks a million!
