      Hey I hope you’re well.

I’m trying to place an excel table on one table (ex. an estimate breakdown including the total for the estimate) and then on another page, have just one cell or the text from that cell (ex. just display the total for the estimate) display on another page.

I tried cross-referencing but unfortunately when I update the data in excel, it wipes away the link for the table within InDesign.
I also tried the Content Collector tool by taking the Excel table, placing it on another page and then deleting the rows I don’t need. When I update the Excel file, it restores all the rows and data.

Any help would be appreciated -c

Does it work to use Show Import Options to just import that one cell? See:

      Hey David,

Thanks so much, this works great. I anchored the single cell inline with the label text (ex. Fee: $1.00) and it displays perfectly.

One last question, is it possible to make the data from this cell into a dynamic text variable? Ex. If I update the cell in Excel, it’s linked to a text variable that will refresh it’s custom text with the new content?

      Happy holidays

If you give the text in the cell a unique paragraph or character style, yes, you can create a text variable that will automatically update when the cell content changes.
