Paragraph styles that don't seem to be working.

      I have files that are sent to me from a client. These are InDesign CS5 files. A good portion of the text has a paragraph style applied that have a basic character format with small caps selected in the case drop down. The problem is that when I open the document I'm not getting small caps. By all accounts small caps are applied but do not seem to be taking affect. I don't use a lot of paragraph styles as I usually work on forms and envelopes and the like, very simple stuff. The font is Berkley Oldstyle Medium. Let me know if you need more information.

      It's a well-known problem (well, for me it is ;) ), but everyone seems to run into it every once in a while. See, for example, this recent Adobe Forum thread: https://forums.adobe.com/thread…..?tstart=30

      The problem is not the font itself, but it's in the Document Fonts folder — that's the problem! Install this font into your system, and then rename the Document Fonts folder to something else, so ID won't try to use these fonts.

      (Adobe knows all about this issue. There were some rumours one of the CS5 updates fixed things, but I really haven't ever checked up on that. Try updating, nevertheless — you never know.)

      As Jongware says – it's a know problem.

      Make sure you're up-to-date via the Help>Updates in inDesign.

      Thanks a lot Jongware, YOU ROCK!!!! My sales rep has been driving me crazy with this issue and I'm one of those people who won't rest till they have an answer. In trying to figure this issue out I copied and pasted everything into a new document which worked, however I wanted to know why it worked, I wasn't satisfied with just a solution, I needed answers. I did a search on here for paragraph styles because I thought that was the issue, and came up with nothing that explained it. But I knew there was a reason, I just didn't search small caps. I followed your adobe link and found some additional information, there is actually a artical on this site all about this issue. Again thank you, thank you, you have made me feel smarter today.
