Paragraph Style Override – Preflight

      Hello. I’ve turned on the Preflight option to flag Paragraph Style Overrides. My desire is to catch instances where a new paragraph style should exist, not flag every bold and italicized word. Is there any way to tell ID the difference?

      For example, this document is a manual for a product and the name is differentiated with local formatting. Think, ShinyTHING with ‘Shiny’ italicized and THING in bold. As you can imagine, my preflight panel has a large number of errors. There are also instances where I use bold for emphasis (i.e. Do NOT set ShinyTHING on fire – with NOT in bold).

      Is there any solution beyond going through one check to catch truly errant styles then turning the Paragraph Style Override preflight option off?

      You could enable the “Ignore Font Style Overrides” in the Define Preflight Profile dialog box. That way, bold and italic, etc., would not be caught.

      But I think the best way to do it is to apply character styles to that text. See the three-step solution here:
