Panels expanding every time I open a document

      Hello, I’m having a problem with panels from the right-hand workspace column expanding as separate windows every time I open a document. Last week it was the Preflight box that kept appearing at the bottom left of my workspace which I then had to close every time. This week it’s Pages, Links and Layers expanding as a separate window into the top right of my workspace which I’m having to drag back into the right-hand column again to keep things neat.

      Once I’ve tidied these panels away on each open document they don’t pop out again when I switch between documents. However, if I open another document (new or existing) they pop out again.

      Can anyone help?

      I’m afraid your preferences are corrupt. To reset them follow these steps:

      Close the program

      Hold down the Command-Option-Shift-Ctrl keys (on Windows, hold down Control-Alt-Shift) while you start the program up again.

      While the program starts up, keep the keys held down until the splash screen appears along with an alert offering to “Delete InDesign Preferences File?”. Release the keys and click Yes.

      When you rebuild preferences, you lose any custom application defaults you might have made in the Preferences dialog box, and any Presets you created (custom PDF presets, Document presets, etc.).

      Also–do you have a personalized work space saved? Everyone at work (including myself) has one. But one of our folks always had to tell ID to use her personal workspace after launching ID. For some reason ID would not remember it upon launch. So she never knew what palettes would show up after launch. So she just had to select her saved workspace each morning to get her settings.
