I checked the search box and FAQ and cannot find an answer. I have an InDesign CC file with 43 pages, imported from other files. I wanted to have single pages (not facing) but when I turn off Facing Pages, I still have some pages connected as spreads. Some of them have 4-6 pages on a spread. I can’t figure out how to separate them. Dragging a page below its companion page only sticks it to the page(s) below. This will eventually become a facing page for Print Booklet, but for now, it’s easier to edit and move pages singly rather than in spreads. Thanks for any help!

Sounds like you may want to turn off Allow Document Pages to Shuffle in the pages panel menu?

      Hello Katie,

I will simplify David’s answer if he agree with that.

      1.Open up your pages panel.
2.In the pages panel menu you need to turn off Allow Document Pages to Shuffle. And now the document pages will not longer shuffle.
3.Now use the pages panel to pull the pages apart. You need to select just one of the pages on the spread.
4.Click and drag it out to the right, drag it until you see black vertical bar showed up.That means that you can let go of it, and the pages will be split into two.

      Hope this helps!

I posted yesterday that I had already unchecked Shuffle, to no avail. I ended up dragging the stuck pages one at a time to another document, where they landed unstuck. I then deleted the stuck group and dragged the unstuck pages back to the first file. It worked, but was s bit of a hassle.

Katie, I wonder if perhaps something got corrupted/messed up in your file itself. You might consider exporting as IDML and then opening that IDML file. That rebuilds the file and often cleans up oddities. Glad you found a temporary solution though!
