Page Numbers Will Not Update Accross Indesign Book

      I’m not sure what is plaguing this book, but I can’t get the page numbers to relay across the documents in a InDesign book. Each document starts at page 1. Each document has “automatic page numbering” selected, but no go. When I open up individual documents and right click on a page to view the numbering, the box “Start Section” is always checked. I uncheck it but next time I open it, it’s checked again. On the first page of the document it is checked and and grayed out so that I can’t uncheck it. Any ideas?

      Have you tried to set “Start Section” in InDesign files as standard ID documents, not through “Book” option?

      I discovered it was connected to the warning “XMPBackEndCC15.InDesignPlugin is missing”. The book document was not working because of that. So I followed the steps found here for saving as a IDML, then saving it again as a 2022 ID file. https://community.adobe.com/t5/indesign-discussions/packaging-files-xmpbackendcc15-indesignplugin-missing/td-p/11149735

      Then, after downgrading to the previous version of ID to get out of the missing font crash loop, the numbering is fixed.
