Page numbers in table of contents

      I would like the page numbers in a table of contents to be live… I usually format the toc as i want, the lines in toc can be different from what the titles look in the book. And i put the pages manually, as a cross reference… that way the number is really live, i don't have to update the toc to have the page numbers right… Don't know why adobe didn't do it this way…

      Can this be scripted? I think it's a hard task…

      Is there another way I am missing?
