Page numbers in document can't be set to roman

      I want to set the page numbers in the first document of my book to roman — something I have done dozens of time.

      It’s not working.

      I can set the page numbers in the second document in the book to roman. But not this first document.

      I tried exporting the document at IDML and reimporting. No luck.

      Any other suggestions before I give up and redo the document from scratch?

      Does it work outside the book? (make a copy of your .indd file and try it)
      What happens when you select Page 1, Page->Numbering & Section options -> Style? Are you choosing Roman numerals but it’s not changing?

      Ah. Thank you for sending me to the Page panel. It turned out that I had started a section on page 2. I deleted the section, and now we have roman numerals.
