      Hi all

I’ve just designed my first book in InDesign and right now, everything is facing pages/spreads so 1-2 and 2-3 and so on. However, so it can be printed correctly and bound, I now I need to change the page order so it follows this pattern:

As there are over 300 pages, is there an automatic way of doing this so I don’t get really confused?! Also the page numbers on the pages themselves will need to stay as they are (as they’re currently being picked up from their position in the InDesign document so will change when I move the pages around!).

      Thanks in advance.

      Louise

Absolutely no reason to do this crazy workflow.

Professional printers will impose your document for you.

If you’re looking to get a Printed Sample in your own office use File>Export and choose PDF.

Using Acrobat Pro or Acrobat Reader there is the option to File>Print and choose the Booklet feature.

Don’t go off half-cocked and send the whole thing to print…

Print the first 8 pages – Check your print settings and ensure duplexing is on – so that it prints both sides – and there should be an option to Flip on Short edge – and you may need to play with these settings to get it right.

      Hope that helps

Thanks guys! My client is printing with LightningSource who I’ve never had any experience with so not sure how involved they want to get. I’ll email them to make sure they can sort this out as yes, the thought of having to sort out those pages is filling me with nausea

I’ve never heard of these – but usually it’s preparing a Print Ready PDF and supplying the pages as single pages from start to end in the correct order.

Other than that – your client will have to contact them and ask them – or get you to contact them would probably be better.
