We have had a problem with image files being duplicated in out multi Unit books [more then 1 InDesign file per book].

We have come to the conclusion that our work flow may have something to do with the error.
      1. Down loading the Files to our desktop
      2. Making edits
      3. Uploading the Files back to the server, [overwriting the prevues version]
      4. upon downloading the File on the next day we have found multiple Image files in the Image folder [i.e. 001.pdf, 001_1.pdf, 001_2.pdf]
The extensions are bing used for example only the anomaly will occur with .psd and .ai file as well.

We are wondering IF it could be the upload/overwrite process for our server is somehow out of sync, or do we need to make sure to purge and/or rename the original file folder with the whole project on the server before uploading the edited file? And remove the Book File form the original File Folder?
      [Name of file Folder: i.e. 3944, 3944_Old]

You said “…upon downloading the File on the next day…” do you mean you find the numbered files on your computer but NOT the server? Also, what is your platform?

They are found on the server, within the image folder.

The Platform is Appel Mac; OS High Sierra 10.13.6

I’m hesitant to believe it occurs only upon downloading the next day. If you check after the upload to the server, are the numbered extras there? Hours later? Next morning, *before* the download to your Mac?
