Which time you getting this message?

      &

use “Memory Clean” apps for your system, this apps clean as well as shows you memory use in your systems.

Out of Memory errors don’t relate to RAM.

Apple have a page in reference to this error and how to fix it https://support.apple.com/kb/TA25701

        Hi.

That article is very useful, though, we’re running into this issue on El Capitan and I can not find where that setting is as it seems to have been removed from Get Info.

Would you guys happen to know where this setting is now in El Capitan?

How do I increase the Application Memory Size in El Capitan then per apps?

Wow, I haven’t seen that for a long time. There hasn’t been a way to change application memory size for over 10 or 15 years, I think!

Are you getting application out of memory errors? Check to make sure you have several gigabyte of free hard drive space, too.

Yes, that is what we are having on some files, and we have loads of RAM, storage and everything else in between available.

However, rebooting the computer sorts the issue out.

The designer was working on a massive InDesign file previously, which he had closed, but I’m suspecting that either the software or OS or both did not do a good job of flushing things out after the previous massive file which is why this happened (loads of our of memory errors) on a ridiculously small file.

We have El Capitan installed, all updates installed for both the OS and all applications. (CS6)

        Any ideas?

        Thanks!

I have the very same problem. (ID CS6 on El capitan). Yesterday I trash Indesign preferences and then disable “Application Frame” under Indesign Window menu. So far so good, no more out of memory massages, missing undos and blank screens in Indesign all day. Todays workflow was pretty same as yesterday, so I hope this is solution.

I’ve been trying wrap up a huge illustration/design job for ages, and just as it was coming into the home stretch I made the mistake of installing El Capitan. Now InDesign routinely screws up and stops with an out of memory error message. Everything is taking three times as long. This NEVER happened with Maverick, and only very rarely (and with good reason) with any previous osx version. Apple seems to have royally f***ed uo. Actually everything takes six times longer because I keep looking around the net for suggested solutions.

same issue! been running indesign cs6 for more than a year with no issues. as soon as i upgraded to el capitan i began have issues, the most significant being the “out of memory” error followed closely by its crashing. any help would be appreciated.

Same issue here. Been running great for several years–suddenly I get freeze ups and out of memory alerts. Frustrating… I’m intrigued buy emlib’s solution but a little afraid to try it. Emlib…are things still working okay for you?

Yep, same issue here. Exactly. El Capitan. *sigh* Thanks Apple.

This issue is absolutely maddening and causing havoc in my ability to make a living. Item’s disappear and reappear, Indesign crashes, warnings appear stating memory is maxed out and the whole page disappears and even the warning buttons are just blank rectangles. I’m running InDesign CS6 on a 27 inch, Late 2013 Mac, 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5 with 16GB of ram and a hard drive that’s not even half full. All permissions have been repaired and there’s only Photoshop CS6 running alongside InDesign. Apple, I had already lost faith but this is a whole new level of crap and ulcers.

The above fixes do not work for me. So if anybody does figure this out, please post. David, can you help? Eugene’s fix is no longer available in “Get Info” and Embib’s method did not work at all–I hope it works for the rest of you but this is not a solution.

How to work with elements that disappear and threats of memory shutdown? This is not a healthy work environment. Searching the forums brings up what seems to be the fact that Apple is aware of this but has no intention of supporting CS6 and there is no fix other than to buy into cloud-based extortion or revert to the previous OS system.

Even though it’s putting my stress level thorough the roof I’m opting for the latter. I should’ve listened to the El Capitan gripes but I needed it to run a cloud-based piece of software. I just should’ve known better…

Apple and Adobe, i never thought I’d say this but I hope you fall. You may be too big to fail but you certainly failed your clients. Yeah, I know, spouting off like this online is usually a mistake, better to just wait and find a better perspective. But I gotta say, with all this work on my plate this is the last thing I needed to deal with.

It is extremely hard to debut problems like this. It’s always good to try:
      a) Rebuild your InDesign preference files ( https://creativepro.com/resources/faq )
      b) Restart the computer
      c) Log in to your computer using a different account (like a guest account or some other account)

Often one of those things helps.

As for supporting CS6 or earlier versions of the program: I feel your pain, but one of the whole points of new versions of software is that it keeps up with changes in operating systems, right? Adobe can’t go back and make CS5 and CS4 and CS and InDesign 2 and so on keep working in El Capitan. It just isn’t feasible.

I decided to write up my thoughts on this a little more thoroughly:

      Should I Upgrade My Software?
