      Hi –

Does anyone know exactly what the feature “Optimize for Fast Web View” does? Everyone says to enable it to help with loading a PDF in a browser, but I was notified today that the cross references, most notably the TOC, didn’t actually work with the ‘linking’ function when opening the PDF in a browser. The cross references worked in Adobe Acrobat, but we have instances when a PDF might be opened in a browser and using the TOC is easier to navigate our 200-500 page user manuals.

When disabling this feature, the cross references worked in a browser.

      Any help is appreciated.
      Thanks!

Wow, that’s fascinating. My understanding is that feature splits up the PDF into one-page chunks, only the current page has to be read to be displayed. It is much faster to download 1 page than 500!

I’m surprised that the TOC linking doesn’t work correctly. I wonder if that’s just one type of browser, or everywhere. I can’t test it at the moment.

But I can see how if you force people to download the whole PDF, it’ll take longer at first, but then they have the whole document to work with.

Thanks David! I was using Google Chrome and a colleague was using Microsoft Edge. OK, so that doesn’t quite seem to make sense, but it’s the only change I made and it now works.
