non responsive palettes

      Hi, I have just installed CS6 and can't get the palettes at the side to respond. They open up but you can't alter any of the data in them only by using other toolbars. I only have the master suite and lightroom on this computer so can't see what outside programs could be causing a problem. Can anyone help?
