I work in the print shop and receive files from an individual who continually keeps baseline grid and document grid turned on. The problem is that nothing in the document is aligned with either one, and it makes the text difficult to see. I have to proofread these documents, and every time, I have to turn these “features” off, before I can read them.

Is there any way to set up my InDesign to never show the baseline or document grids? I have tried setting them to show in certain page size percentages, but that doesn’t do anything to documents I receive from others.

Have you tried setting baseline grids to show in certain page size percentages without any documents open? A lot of InDesign settings will be set as “document specific” settings if you have a document open when you set them.

If you have already explored this then I would just get used to using the keyboard shortcut (command+option+’)… Nice and easy.

Yeah, I tried that, but it was a no go. As soon as I opened up another document, it showed all of the grids. Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I do know the keyboard shortcuts now. I just learned about them the day I posted the issue. That is a help. I would really just like it if I could turn them off completely.

      Thank you again.
