      Hello,

I am creating an events calendar with the dates set up like so:

I have been having trouble creating this with lists or apply styles to it properly. I ended up doing a lot of things manually on the last calendar I made for that reason.

I’d like to know if what I’m trying is possible or what a better approach to this could be — maybe I am missing something obvious.

Where a date is indented to the left and on the same line as the first event.
      I considered a multi-level list but I couldn’t make it work because:
      1. The dates I will include will not be consecutive (1..2..3..) since I don’t have events for each date, so I don’t think I can use the numbers option
      2. I couldn’t figure out how to indent the first list level (the number) to the left and have the second list level (with the events) be at the same height.

I feel like I’ve seen this format elsewhere, but I haven’t been able to find a tutorial that addresses this specifically.

If anyone more well-versed in InDesign could help me, I would very much appreciate it! ?

That is tricky. What does the manuscript look like?

Indesign lists aren’t particularly useful here because, as you say, there aren’t bullets for every number so even if you crack the layout then you will have to manually set the number for each set of bullets.

Personally, this looks to me like a two-column table with the date in the first column then a row for each set of regular bullets. It’s simpler to manage and your alignment is sorted.

Assuming the data originates outside of Indesign, I would try to create the table (in Word using a merge?) and then copy/paste it into your Indesign file using a table style to apply the correct formats automatically.
