Hi — my loooong table has occasional erroneous rows, where text that should be in column A appears instead in Column B, and so forth — the whole row is displaced one column to the right.

I have checked the original table in Excel in case I can tweak it there, but nothing seems to be out of order. So I have to correct it in ID.

Is there any simple way of fixing these rows by shifting the text in columns B, C, D, E and F back to columns A, B, C, D and E? Or do I just have to copy and paste the text in each cell back into the next cell on the left?

      Select all 5 cells B-F,
      Cut,
      Select cells A-E,
      Paste.

      Good luck!
      Chris

Or find out what’s causing them to shift back in Excel – perhaps a tab or other invisible character embedded at the start of the text in cell A in Excel
