      I am starting to layout a 300+ pages book and I run OSX 10.9.4 and Indesign CC 2014. I installed the script made available by David Blatner on this website and written by Olav Martin Kvern in order to move objects toward or away from the spine. After I created an indesign book file I simply added single documents to it. After adding for instance two documents and subsequently opening them, for the document added first, this script still works fine while for the second (and for all the other documents I could add) I get an error message:

      JavaScript Error!

      Error Number: 45
      Error String: Object is invalid

      Engine: main
      File: /Users/damiportinari/Library/Preferences/Adobe InDesign/ Version 10.0/en_US/Scripts/Scripts Panel/AdjustLayout_modified.jsx
      Line: 186
      Source: var myStartIndex =
      app.activeDocument.pages.item(myStartPageName).documentOffset;

      I could layout this book without using the book feature in InDesign but that would mean I would loose several things.
      I tried to solve this problem differently by downloading the trial version of the Reflective Objects plug in but when i run the installation I am not able to install it with InDesign CC 2014. I contacted the company but I haven’t heard anything from them yet.

      I would really appreciate if someone could point me to a different script or else as I really need it because when I insert an odd number of pages to my document my layout gets really messy and doing that for more than 300 pages it will be extremely time consuming.

      Thank you very much!

      Are you saying that it works on the first document, but not on the second document of a book? I don’t think the script knows whether the document is part of a book — it just works on whatever document is open at the time — so this seems odd.

      Hi,

      this is what is happening unfortunately in my case but it maybe be reproducible in other InDesign releases or in other computers as well perhaps. I thought that the script would not know if the document is part of a book or not but it gives me this error..
