      Hi All:

I am trying to find what company or companies make “elementlabel” and “smartayoutreader” plugins for InDesign?
I was supplied a file by another vendor that uses these 2 plugins. I don’t really need them to save or print the file, but when I try to package the file, I get an error message saying that it cannot be packaged with missing plugins. I tried IDML with no luck. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Never heard of those. What does it mean that you tried IDML?

      Hi David,

I exported to IDML, hoping it would clear the problem when I opened it again. Got same error???

You exported as IDML, closed the original, and then opened the IDML file. Did you get the error when you opened it, or when you tried packaging?

Have you tried packaging other files? Perhaps your Package feature is broken? Have you tried rebuilding your preferences?

Did all of that. When I open the IDML file it tells me that there are mising plugins (just as the original file), but it opens fine. I get the error only when I try to package. Other files package fine. I think that these plugins were on the original user’s Mac and don’t realy affect the file (Inmath used to do the same thing). I ended up collecting fonts, inmages the old fashioned way. Thanks for your help.

Yeah, but if you’re getting the same error after opening the IDML (and saving it), then there is a very good chance that it is not the file, but rather some plug-in that you currently have running on your system. Perhaps you tried to uninstall some plug-in (like inmath?!) but it wasn’t fully uninstalled, and now one part of the plug-in is looking for the other parts. That’s my guess.

After further review, we found out that it’s K4 plugin from Woodwing. It’s a full application that when installed creates a plugin for InDesign. I think it’s used to connect to other systems. Anyway, we’re not installing it because it makes changes to the operating system. Once again, thanks for your help.
