CS4/Indesign 6.0.4: I'm new to interactivity, but an old hand at Indesign. I have two issues I'm seeking solutions for:

I'm creating an interactive PDF of our magazine, but the four 3-state buttons per spread (next page, final page/previous page/first page) are misbehaving. Their normal states are gray, rollover states are red and the click states are orange. Action takes place upon release. But after exporting, the action in the PDF takes place immediately upon rollover. I've double-checked all the setting and have recreated the buttons as well but to no avail.

I love the power of using master pages. But when I place the above buttons on them, they appear under any full-page bleed graphics on the pages, out of sight. To view and access each of those buttons, I have to reduce or move the background graphic on that destination page, shift/command click the buttons, bring them to the front, then restore the bleed graphic. Has anyone discovered a better, less time-consuming method for having master page elements appear on top of destination page backgrounds? Thanks!

I'm not sure why your buttons would be acting on rollover instead of On Release. That sounds odd. I would triple-check to make sure you have no action set on “On Roll Over” or “On Roll Off”

But as for where buttons “live”: Put them on a layer higher than your master page items (in the Layers panel).

Thanks for the reply, David, but it remains a perplexing problem. I've checked and rechecked the button settings, and they are consistent, both on the master and regular pages. The button action is always “Upon release,” but the exported PDF takes action upon rollover. Any other thoughts on solving this?
