I seem to remember this happening several versions ago — maybe CS2? — but I have a file where weird display things are ocurring. I thought it might be caused by a third-party plugin, but I disabled the one third party plugin I had installed (Suitcase Fusion) and it's still happening.
Example 1: I have a silhouetted (alpha-masked) photo I'm importing. It has no clipping path built into it. When I select Text Wrap and tell it to either detect edges or use the alpha mask to create a runaround it does it, but the whole path is about 1/4″ or so out of register with the image — it's shifted to the right of where it should normally be.
Example 2: I select the text box next to the image (the one affected by the wrap) and it too appears too far to the right, with the text content hanging out the left side and a big gap along the right edge.
Also, the file hangs ID when it loads. I force-quit, then it loads automatically (like a crash recover) and it's generally fine after that for that one session. If I close and reload it, though, ID will hang again.
I am guessing I have a corrupted INDD file (which I have saved out as an IDML and reimported twice and can't get rid of the problem). I thought it might a be that the placed file (PSD) was corrupt. Because when I deleted it and saved the file without it, it opened okay. But I rebuilt the outlined image from scratch and the new file doesn't seem to help. Even tried saving it to TIFF, then re-opening it and re-saving as PSD again.
No other file seems to be behaving this way.
Anybody seen anything like this before? Any suggestions?
