      Y'all,

I'm a beginner with InDesign and new to the forum.

Long story short: a publisher took my manuscript and turned it into a book shortly before going out of business. I got the InDesign file so that I can make corrections and continue to publish with a print-on-demand (POD) printer. For some reason, they used 4 separate files to do a 430 page book. The POD needs a PDF file to print. I would like to merge the four documents into one from where I can export to PDF. Alternatively, I suppose I could keep the four files separate but compile them into a single PDF file (although this seems less elegant). I welcome and thank you in advance for your advice.

You can create a new book (File > New > Book), then put the four docs into your new book panel, then use the export book to pdf feature (in the book panel menu) to export a single pdf. That's the way most people do multi-document books.
