      Am I missing something in 5.5? Can we still not scale arrowheads independently from their line's stroke weight—like we've been able to do in Illustrator for many versions?

      Am I doomed to grouping two separate elements?

      That's correct; InDesign has never let you edit arrowheads. Frustrating. It's a long-standing feature request. Feel free to add it here:
