hi folks. I am using ID CS6 on a os 10.8.5 which happens to be my work laptop. I came across this problem ever since I started working on this mac.

Every time I insert a new page/s in my document the new pages do not follow the specs of the one and only master that is set up. All the pages after the insertion page fall apart and I keep having to choose ‘Apply master to pages’ from the Page palette’s flyout menu. At that point I get a dialog box telling me that every single page from where I inserted the new page has a different size, giving me the option of using the master sizes or keeping the current sizes. So it seems every time I insert pages the new ones come up with their own page size which does not show on the Pages palette thumbnails but the items on the master page fall off the page. This happens no matter what method I use to insert pages, and regardless of whether the new pages come in on a even or odd number.

Ive looked thru the preferences and cant find anything. Does anyone have an idea what is going on here?

would it help if I post a screenshot of the dialog box that I was referring to? if i only knew how to include a screenshot here

We can’t allow users to upload files (like most other private boards) so just upload your screenshot to any other picture sharing service, and then add a link here. You might use Flickr, or Dropbox, or Snapfish.com, or PhotoBucket.com — those seem to be the most popular.

hi Ann-Marie, thank you yes that is a great idea. Here is the dialog box i was talking about. As a recap, when I insert pages they come in at a different size (not sure what) causing master page items to fall of the page. When I click on ‘Apply master to pages’ from the pages palette this is the dialog box that appears:

when I click on ‘use master page size’ everything falls into place, but the thing is this keeps happening every time I add a page, and I have not defined a different page size anywhere, or have I?

If anyone knows whats going on please let me know because this is getting disruptive and mysterious.

here’s another screenshot: I clicked on one of those pages that is off, clicked on the custom page icon on the pages palette and it shows me that one of those problem pages is indeed set at tabloid (as it should be) yet it still follows the problem explained above: https://www.flickr.com/photos/103573029@N03/9985658853/
