I am new to InDesign CS4. I have to make an artists catalog and I need to have two different margins.

On the left page I need a 1 inch outside margin and a .5 in inside margin

On the right hand page, I need a 1 inch inside margin and a .5 in outside margin.

On the Document setup though, I can only set up one set of marginswhich is repeated throughout the other 15 pages. How can I have the left facing page have one set of margins and the right facing page have a different set of margins?

Also can anyone recommend a good tutorial or book for InDesign CS4. I bought the ONe on One by D McClelland – but its pretty bad. In the first few pages, he apparently mixed up columns and column guides and had me sitting over an hour trying to figure out what he was saying, when thanks to a youtube video, I discovered that he had mixed ujp the instructions. I am not going to waste time going further with the book. So other than youtube videos, any other suggestions on books to learn InDesign CS4?

      Thanks

In pages panel left click on left (or right) page of master spread. Then go to Layout>Margins and Columns and enter values you like. But remember don't select whole spread, just one page.

And about those tutorials, well lynda.com is the best solution in my opinion and Deke McClelland is my favourite.

Thank you. Your answer was very helpful. And yes the youtube videos including McClellands are excellent. But his book – check out pg 20 of his InDesign CS4 about column guides. It took me over an hour to find out he had mixed up the difference b/w moving columns and moving column guides. So that is why I am very hesitant with continuing with this particular book.
