When you import a pdf file or image file with layers, at the moment there is no solution, when switching on/off layers in the layers palette, also the layers are switched on/off in the placed objects.
For many indesign users that could be an important feature request, working as follows:
When you import an image or pdf file containing layers, you can link the layer visibility to the InDesign Layers.
So if you have a multi-lingual document, for example, then you want an image to have UK linked to InDesigns UK layer, and if you turn off InDesigns layer for the UK and turn on another language layer – it will trigger that language layer in the Object Options of the imported object.
Why is that feature important?
Consistency, speed and efficiency with layered workflows across different applications.
