I’m a photographer who is new to InDesign and want to use it to make small books with sewn multi-signatures. This may be a dumb question but the only way I can figure out how to do this is to make multiple pamphlets (signatures) of 8 to 12 pages and then combine them with sewing like a Coptic stitch or using another type of sewing stitch and securing them in another type of binding.

      Example: Pamphlet 1 Pages 1-8, Pamphlet 2 Pages 9-16, Pamphlet 3 Pages 17-24.

If the explanation is complicated, maybe you can direct me to a tutorial.

PS: I’m really happy to find this site. Sometimes I have spent so much time just trying to figure out what I have checked or not checked that is screwing up the process.

Oh, I forgot to add that I want to print these books on duo-sided paper on my Epson 3880 printer. I’ve figured out enough to print a 20 page one signature book through InDesign. It works very well and the color management is quite good. I’m pretty excited about the possibilities.

Sorry, sewing your own signatures is outside my knowledge! I pretty much focus on what can be done inside InDesign here. :-)
You may know that InDesign does have a File > Print Booklet feature.

David, Thank you so much for your quick response. I’m not asking for help with the sewing. I’ve printed several pamphlet books in InDesign and they are great but I don’t want a 48 page pamphlet book which is too much for a Pamphlet. I want to produce multiple signatures of 12 pages each in In Design, print them and then I’ll take over the sewing. Is there an easier way to produce multiple signatures other than printing multiple pamphlet books. The multiple pamphlet books could be the best way to do it but I thought that maybe someone else might be a photographer and hand-made bookmaker
