My co-worker is working on a doc and wanted to know if there’s an InDesign doc with hyperlinks placed inside another InDesign doc, is there any way to maintain the hyperlinks when exported to PDF? She tried it with a Word file exported PDF and placed that in the InDesign file and it half worked. Meaning, when full URL strings were used, the links worked, however, if it was just a word/phrase that had a hyperlink applied, it did not work. Thanks

Unfortunately, no. And what you describe (full URL strings work) is actually due to Acrobat (or the PDF reader), not InDesign. That is, if Acrobat sees something that looks like a link, it turns it into a link automatically. (That’s a preference setting.)

Thanks David for the quick response… exactly what I thought, but I told her that I would post the question anyways. Her thought was “it had to work somehow” even though I mentioned that it was a placed file/image. Thanks again!!
