      Greetings,

I have a Letter page in INDD with an image placed on it. I know I have plenty of resolution in the image available. When I print the page to my Epson R3000 the image is stairstepping. If I print the same image out of Lightroom placed in the same location at the same size, it looks fine. I need to be able to get the same quality out of INDD because I will combine it with text, graphics etc.

Printing directly from InDesign? Are you sending data as All or Optimized Subsampling? If you’ve only tried one, switch to the other. You might also try printing from a PDF.

      Hi Bob,

I’ve printed with it set to Optimized. I’m going to try All next. I also set the Transparency Flattening to High Res and the Transparency Blend Space to RGB (since the placed image is RGB?). I think the Trans Flattening made an improvement, not sure what the Blend space does or if it did anything but it does look like an improvement; just not as good as my print out of Lightroom.

Going to try the All setting next under the Graphic tab as you suggested.

Changing the pulldown to ALL did it! Sharp as a tack now. Thanks for the help Bob.

Hmmm, I would have guessed the other way around, but I think that applies more to laser printers than photo inkjets. As long as it worked it’s good.
