Layout view jumps around — long documents (books)

      Does anyone know how to prevent InDesign from adjusting the layout (jumping around) after adding a Section Marker in Numbering & Section Options? I add a chapter name and click “OK,” and my view of the layout jumps and I have to recenter the document in my window. Is there an adjustment I don’t know about, or a workaround? I’d rather not have to readjust my view every time I add a section marker.

      That’s interesting… I never noticed that before. Yes, it appears to center the spread in the window after you click OK. I don’t think there is any way around that. But if you center the spread in the window (command-option-zero, or double-click the numbers under the spread in the pages panel), then it won’t move.
