Last page number variable by document, not section

I have an InDesign file with multiple sections. On the only master page I have a text frame with “Page X/Y” where X = current page number and Y = total number of pages (i.e. the last page number in the document).

But for each section the last page number variable only shows the last page in that section. So I have Page 23/24, then Page 24/24, then Page 25/32, etc. How do I get the variable o recognize the last page in the document, not the section?

Solved. The scope of the variable was set to Section, not Document. I am positive I did not change this yet somehow it changed. InDesign has decided to be my enemy lately, with all the preferences reset and now this. Is the Illustrator team in charge?
