    I’ve searched here (and dang near everywhere else on the interwebs) and have found posts regarding keyboard toggle shortcuts not working, however, I haven’t found any solutions that are working for me.

    I started a new job today and have an iMac running MacOS Mojave, v10.14.5. I can’t figure out why my spacebar (to toggle the hand tool), command + spacebar (toggle zoom up tool) and command + option + spacebar (toggle zoom down tool) absolutely will not work.

    My college in the next office has the same system setup and does not have this issue.

    I am baffled. I’ve turned off everything in Spotlight and Accessibility, looked for items running in the background, and I’m coming up empty.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated, especially since I’d love to not look like a complete rube on my very first day.

    Hi Laura,
    Just curious: Does option-spacebar work for the hand tool?
    And does command-spacebar work if you hold down the spacebar first and then add command?

    Whoa! Rebuild InDesign Preferences?
    Try plugging in a different keyboard?

    I tried a different keyboard, no dice.

    Just to confirm – rebuilding preferences = Vulcan death grip keyboard sequence of command + option + control + shift? If so, I did that, too. If not, I’ll try whatever you suggest.

    I’m tellin’ ya… it’s crazy. :-)

    Yes, rebuilding the prefs is to hold down everything when restarting. If you don’t see a dialog box saying “Rebuild preferences?” then it didn’t work.

    Hi there! I just wanted to report that the culprit was Webroot SecureAnywhere – a function of the app had to be disabled. The, “secure keyboard entry mode” setting disables the spacebar toggle grabber hand, the toggle zoom in and out (command + spacebar, command + option + spacebar).

    After hours of research I found a thread on Webroot’s website that detailed the issue.

    Hopefully this might help someone else who comes across this in the future.
