Key Letters disappearing in bulleted lists

      I’m wondering if this problem is a result of something I’m doing unknowingly, or if it’s an InDesign CC glitch:

      In a paragraph style that incorporates a bulleted list, sometimes the letter at the beginning disappears. Obviously I know if I change a paragraph style to something without a list, my letter will go away. But when the paragraph (or any part of it) is selected, the accurate style is highlighted, without any over rides. What’s weird is that the copy after the bullet point-letter stays in place, indented, as if the key letter is still there. The rest of the letters in the list all respond as if the letter is NOT there, meaning C becomes B, D becomes C, etc.

      When I see it, I can’t even “force apply” the style. I actually have to click on a different paragraph style and then click back on the accurate style to get the letter to reappear.

      My assumption is that it’s a bug and I can’t control when it happens, but any thoughts anyone has out there would be great. Otherwise I will put in a bug report with Adobe.

      Check if there is any nested style associated with the paragraph style, making the character disappear at the beginning. To study in more depth, please try to send data, before and after.

      I can’t send any data because I can’t get the problem to repeat itself. There are no nested styles in the paragraph, but there is GREP which, among other things, looks for the first phrase before two spaces and applies a character style to it:

      ^(?<!).+?\x{20}\x{20}

      That character style of course then also applies to the bulleted character. This has worked perfectly fine for hundreds of paragraphs over the last year or so (whenever it was I applied that GREP) but just recently we’ve seen this problem where the spacing of the paragraph stays accurate, but the key letter disappears, and only in one or two places.

      (Other note: the paragraph preceding the paragraph with the error had the same paragraph style applied.)
