Inserting characters after some Char Style

      Hi.

I use some Char and Paragraphs Styles with a big and “offseted” underline to make like a color box behind the text. Okay, it works fine. But the problem is the “box” finishes exactly where the text begins or ends and I need to type two spaces before and after the text to make it look better.

Is there a way to put or a Left and Right offset in Underlines, or make the Style insert those spaces before and after to me?

      Many thanks,
      Luiz

You have more options to make offsets if you use Paragraph Rules or Paragraph Shading (found under Paragraph Style Options), rather than Underlines. They should provide you with the results you’re looking for.

If just shading behind a single line of text (rather than a whole paragraph) try Paragraph Rules with these options:
for Width: select Text; for Right and Left Indent: make that a negative number like -.05 in

      Dear Ikwan,

Thanks a lot, worked as a charm in Paragraph Styles. And is there a way to do the same in Char Styles? Sometimes I just need this color box in the middle of the text over a word.

      Thans,
      Luiz
