I apologize if this topic has been covered, but I can’t find that it has. I’ve created postcards using the data merge. Now I need to add the second side (which is the same for all 1300 cards) after each page…every other page. I definitely don’t want to drag/drop 1300 times. Is there a script within InDesign, or even something—once it’s a PDF—in Acrobat? I appreciate any assistance, today if at all possible.

I used to work in Pagemaker which was InDesigns predecessor,I rarely did a merge in that program but if I did I would print the other side of the cards first (I suppose I should say I worked in a copy center/print shop) and then put them back in the copier to print the address side. I found Pagemaker to be inefficient with merges. I used to use Word or Publisher although not professional programs they worked much better.

Hi Candi, there was a stupid thread 2 months ago, but I wrote in this part a script, that seems to be the solution for you: https://creativepro.com/topic/adding-pages

Thanks for remembering that thread and your script, Kai!

This is hard thing to do after the document is already created. It’s much easier to do at data merge time! Just make a 2 page document (front and back), then data merge. For each record you’ll get 2 pages. If you can go back to that point, I’d recommend that.

If you can’t go back, then this thread might help (but it’s pretty technical)

Thanks David. I did figure it out of course AFTER I finished the merge. <imagine emoji banging head against wall> I created the merge in four parts so that I didn’t have a file of 1300 right off the back. But because I had already gone through and made some small clean ups within the merged files, I didn’t want to got back and merge again with the proper 2-page setup. But this is the first of a 3-part mailing…I’ll know the next. Thank Kai & Michele for offering suggestions as well.

Too bad you can’t do a multiple record merge to a 2 pg document in Indesign. Then I wouldn’t have to try and figure out how to do this! Pulling my hair out because I have a document that requires multiple records on a page but it has a backside as well! Why Indesign can’t do a multiple record merge in a 2 page document!!!! Grrrr!
