insert new pages but skip numbering

I have a 156 page book I did for someone and now they want a 6 page training manual to be inserted after a chapter but they don’t want this insert to affect the page numbering that follows. I have the insert as both an InDesign document and as a PDF. What’s the best approach to doing this?

Also, would like the 6 page insert to be inflow with the rest the book, but the insert has bleeds at the top and bottom, whereas the rest of the book does not. Do I just create new master pages for this section?

The pages still have to be numbered somehow. You can go to the section start where the insert starts, and start it at “A” or something (or “B” if an even page). Then go the section start after the insert, and resume regular numbering:

      For example:

Previous chapter ends on page 98.
Section Start “A” for the six pages (ends on “F”).
Section Start after page “F” (page 99).

Just be sure you don’t have folios on those insert pages.

So far as bleeds, I always set up my files whether they have bleeds or not via document setup. That’s mainly because once in a while they will stick in a photo insert or something.

And I’d probably make a separate master page for your insert.
