Indexing – duplicate page number

I have an indexing issue for a botanical publication. The index needs to display the page number where the species entry is and the page where its picture is. The page containing the picture is indicated by a bold page number.

My problem occurs when both the text entry and its picture occur on the same page. I enter two entries into the Index panel but InDesign only creates one page number entry for the two entries. I need the number to appear twice – once in roman and once in bold (to indicate that this is where the picture of the plant is) – e.g.:
Cordyline australis 23, 23 (where this second page number should be in bold)

      InDesign simply generates:
      Cordyline australis 23

A solution to this – other than adding the extra entries manually just before publishing – has so far eluded me?

      Thanks

You’re out of luck. This can be done only by very convoluted scripting. Same happens with footnotes. It’s one of the weaknesses of InDesign’s index feature. Please log a feature request at https://indesign.uservoice.com
