      Hi,

I’m using Indesign CC 2017 on a PC with Windows 10.

I have a 226 page book with 11 documents. I’ve added index entries. When I generate the index, it asks if I want to include items in overset text. I don’t, of course, but want to fix the overset issues.

However, when I preflight the book it doesn’t find any overset issues.

What am I missing? Obviously I need the index and the book to be complete and correct.

Is there actual overset text or is it just a question that InDesign asks? (i.e., ID asks just in case there is overset text)

That is kind of what I’d like to know.

On other book prep tasks, ID only asks if there’s something that needs fixing. For example, when it says there are unresolved cross-references and asks if you really want to continue to print the book.

If I had my druthers, I’d have ID index prep only ask if there were overset text, so that I could answer knowledgeably–yeah, this book has conditional text, I know this and am aware; or owerset text? something must be wrong, I need t fix it.
