Hi there. I’m running OS High Sierra on my 2015 Macbook Pro and I run Indesign 2019 and 2020 on it. If I upgrade my OS to Monterrey, what versions of Indesign will I be able to run? I believe the ones I use will be obsolete. Will it just be Indesign 2022 I can use or will I be able to use Indesign 2021?

I typically don’t adopt the newest OS or Indesign version because of the bugginess of them when new. And for the sake of productivity I don’t have suddenly be down and not able to even open the application.

      Any advice? Thanks in advance!

I’m right there with you… I often don’t upgrade if you don’t have to! Often, I don’t upgrade my OS until I get a new computer (where it’s pre-installed). I wrote this article about not upgrading here:

      Should I Upgrade My Software?

As for which versions of InDesign work with OS Monterey (only on “r”… the two-R Monterrey is in Mexico!), I THINK that all those versions will run on it, but I’m actually not sure. Maybe someone else here can chime in.

When I upgraded my Mac’s OS a while back, I also had concerns about software compatibility.

From what I’ve read on operating systems (https://operatingsystems.info/), upgrading to Monterey might mean you’ll need to move up to Indesign for full compatibility. However, the latest Indesign version can surprise you with stability improvements over earlier releases.

If you’re wary of bugs, maybe consider waiting a bit after the OS upgrade to see user feedback on Indesign versions.
