Not a question, or even a shared technique … but if you ever wanted some hard copy samples of InDesign pieces that display exceptional usage of tables and forms, look no further than the life insurance junk mail that arrives in your box via USPS. I get one from AAA, on average, about once a month. Rather than toss it into the recycle, I hang on to the best of it for future inspiration. I mean, they’ve got seasoned pros working on those things — it’s all very annoying in concept, but quite dazzling in design.

They’re all done with Affinity and QuarkXpress! ;-)

      Wouldn’t surprise me.

David, if you scan them and zip them up, maybe put them in a dropbox or onebox or google drive location? And then put a link here so we can download and view them?

(Cannot be sure this went through when I first hit SUBMIT, so please forgive the duplication if so)

      Sure. Here you go: https://ws.onehub.com/files/2u7n8tnk

I actually didn’t expect this request, so they might be a little anti-climatic when viewed by a seasoned pro — they’re just examples good layout choices. What caught my eye was the “color” of the pages. I mean, I’m not in the market for life insurance, but if I were, I think I might be swayed in some part by the blend of simplicity and elegance of the presentation.

Disclaimer: the scans are not the highest quality, as the pages were longer than the bed of my scanner, so I had to do them in pieces. But one can still take note of some good choices made in designing these items, from wise typography choices to streamlined table construction.

Thanks, David! That worked. It’s great to have (and share) all kinds of examples to draw from.
