I just set up CC on my new mac workstation and started a job in Indesign… I went to place a PDF on a page and the little crosshairs are not visible. I always relied on the little “x” on the direst selection tool to make sure it went exactly where I wanted it but now… it gone and I can’t seem to get it to show up again.

Hope that’s not too confusing… any ideas?

That’s interesting… I don’t remember InDesign ever showing cross-hairs when placing images or PDFs.

Well David… I was able to resolve the problem I was having!
Under preferences… GPU Performance… uncheck the box labeled “GPU Performance”…
      and the crosshairs are back!

What a time saver… I can use the crosshairs to place something exactly on my guides without having to write down the x & y values and then verify the placement.

Glad you figured it out! Oh wait… are you talking about the crosshairs when you’re placing an image and you start dragging? I only see crosshairs after I start dragging. (And it works with GPU and CPU.) Or are you seeing crosshairs some other time?

However, you don’t need crosshairs to snap to a guide. You should just need to get close to it and it’ll work. Look for the tiny black arrow in the Place cursor to turn white — that means it’s snapping to a guide or a smart guide. And you can, of course, use Snap to Guides in the View menu.
