I work remotely for a small weekly newspaper. When I complete the layout I do a collect for output and take all the files with me to the newspaper office. But, when I open the InDesign file at the office I get a the following error message “This document contains __ links to sources that are missing. You can find or relink the missing links using the Links panel.” I also get a error message stating “Document contains one or more fonts that are not currently available…”

All my files including my InDesign file are in the same folder and both computers, the office computer and the one at my studio have the same fonts. Both computers are imacs using Snow Leopard 10.6.8

      Please advise. Thank you.

When you copy files to another computer, the paths to the linked files change because they include the computer, user, and so on. Click on a linked file in the Links panel and look at Link info > Path to see what I mean. If the file is looking for fonts in the package or in your user library, the cause may be the same.

As I mentioned before, in InDesign I go to File>Package. This collects all the files and fonts the InDesign file uses. So The InDesign file is in the same folder as all the links and fonts it uses, and I still have to relink the images and find and replace fonts. Why?

crych has explained to you fully well the reason why you have to relink the files, because the path containing the information on your file were disconnected. all you need do is to relink one of the images and the rest will update automatically.

Well… It doesn't appear to work for me. I understand about the path being broken but, here's the thing, when I used CS3 to collect for output I did not have to relink any of the images. You tell me that all I need to do is relink one of the images and the rest will update. That doesn't happen for me. I have to relink each image. I've never had this problem before until I started using CS5 and updated to Snow Leopard 10.6.8
