InDesign exports PDF at smaller page dimensions

      Hello…

      When I export a 7.5 x 9.5 inches book format, the page size is reduced by about 97%. (7.5 > 7.23).
I use the same standard output settings has I have for this printer for years, never with this problem.
Note: I switched to Creative Cloud last month.
Any ideas on the cause and fix for this problem?
      Many thanks,
      M

Does it actually export them at the smaller dimension, or is it just smaller when you print? I had that problem until I realized that I had Size to Fit (or shrink to fit) turned on in Acrobat’s print dialog box.

Hello, David. Thanks so much for replying.

The page size is actually a smaller dimension once exported from InDesing. I’ve checked it many times in Acrobat and also by importing it into Photoshop.
I also checked that ALL the master pages are the correct, identical dimensionss.

This is going to a printer’s prepress, and it is they who alerted me to the problem. Have never seen it before and I’ve been sending books to this same printer for nearly 10 years using their generic specs.

Maybe this calls for a reinstallation of my Creative Cloud Acrobat?

The version of Acrobat shouldn’t matter, I think. Are you exporting using File > Export? As far as I know there is no method for reducing pages when using File > Export. (Or are you using file > print? I hope not!) You also said “book”… are you exporting from the Book panel?

I format books in a single InDesign file (finding Books way too awkward) and export with File > Export.

However, the problem was solved by my prepress guy. Although I had my document settings as 7.5 x 9.5, the actual size of the master pages was 7.25 x 9.25. I feel like a dunce … never been caught before.

Is there a way of checking the master pages without going in and measuring each page spread?

Thank you for all of your Great Work, David

      Thanks, Magdalene!
One way to do this would be to select the Page tool in the Tool panel, then double-click on each master page, looking in the Control panel to see what it shows for Width and Height.
