I have a strange thing happening to me and I don't know how to correct it:

both ID and acrobat are us-EN, my computer is multi-Canadian, I run windows 7 pro and the computer is of this year, with all the bells and whistles.

I have to assemble a book, french language, and I did a test-scan with adobe and the OCR setting in order that I can grab the scanned text from the PDF and paste it in InDesign……

The scan is correct, the french text is correct with all the accents and other decorations. I cut the scanned text and go to InDesign and low and behold, most of the text is there but the special characters don't show up.

I have looked all over to find a place where I can change the text to let's say UTF-8 ore such but I have not found a way…

I would shure appreciate your help

      Thanks

Hee ouwe-man, drietalig, of spreek je geen nederlands meer?

To the point: try to export the text from acrobat into a RTF-text document.

That usually should hold on to special characters.

Import that text into Indesign (Place text that is), and that should do the trick.

      Good luck! Greetings from Utrecht
