All the rest of the folks in our department have finally made the leap from Interleaf to InDesign (yay!). But since a couple of us were the technology leaders we started with CS4 ahead of the pack. Now the rest of the folks have CS5. My boss is to cheap to upgrade everybody.

In any case, I'm having a problem with certain documents created in INDD CS4. When trying to open them in CS5 InDesign crashes with a modname dll error.

If I separately save some of the pages that they're interested in using from that same document it opens just fine.

I was wondering if anyone else has seen this problem? I've also made sure we are all up-to-date.

      Thanks!

This seems to be a recurring thing. Try in Cs4 to export to InDesign Markup Language (IDML) and open that in CS5.

You know that almost worked – except that the cross references in the IDML file wanted to point back to the INDD file so guess what? CS5 crashes when trying to find the original file. ARGGH! I'll keep searching for an answer.
