Adobe’s site states, surprisingly, that InDesign CS6 is valid for Mac OSs up to OS 7. But OS8 was announced over a year ago and my InDesign CS5.5 works on that.

      1. Will InDesign CS6 (upgraded from my Indesign CS 5.5) work on Mac OS 8?

      2. Also, does anyone have any thoughts on how many future Mac OSs will be able to run CS 6?

      3. In particular, OS 9 is imminent. Do you think that CS6 will work on that?

Nobody knows for sure of course, but what are your best estimates please?

      Thanks.

Just to be clear, it’s not OS8, but rather Mac OS X 10.8. (Mac OS 9 was from 1998 or so.)

Perhaps Adobe’s site is wrong. CS6 works fine with 10.8 (that’s what I use). I think CC works for 10.7 and 10.8. I’m sure that Adobe will make it work with 10.9, but I think it’s always worth waiting a month or two after Apple releases a big update like that before updating the Adobe apps. (It’s not like Apple goes out of its way to make sure Adobe apps work on their new operating systems, and sometimes I think Adobe doesn’t get the final OS until you and I do!)

Thank you. (I knew it was 10.8, finger trouble!)

I think that I will upgrade to CS 6 to keep going with it. When it (and my Photoshop CS6) no longer work with a future OS down the line I will have to drop Adobe products because I cannot afford to pay the subscription for CC stuff — its far too expensive for me. The problem for people like me is that there is no other page layout software that works and has a range of features.
