Hi Newby on here so apologies if this has cropped up before.

We have Indesign CS2 running on term servers, no more than 6 users per term servers, users get a term server on a “round robin” basis, their windows profile recreated at login.

We have one user (of 100!!!) who has repeated crashes whilst highlighting text, we have him recreating his prefs regularly and have changed all hardware, it can happen 10 or more times a day.

      Any ideas??

That is pretty strange. However, I have noticed that InDesign can be sensitive to things around it that are seemingly unrelated. I would say make a new account for him, but you said that they're recreated automatically? That's wild.

The only thing I can think of is that his files are corrupted somehow. Does this happen with brand new files? Or just files he has been working on?

      Hi Dave

Thanks for the swift reply, it seems that the text box is corrupting, replace the box and all is cool, but that is post crash.

If it is the same document over and over, then I would suggest exporting as INX or IDML, then closing the document, then opening the INX/IDML file and working with this new, clean version of the file.

Sadly they are system created pages, and fresh ones every time!!

You can see why it has us stumped!!

Indeed. When this person sits down and logs in, there must be something that is consistent from one time to the next. An account, a log-in, some files on the server, something. There is no way to give this person a fresh new account? But it sounds like it may be a system problem more than an InDesign problem.

It is a really wierd one, does indesign create any logs anywhere other than the indesign log?

That one comes up saying access violation…
