Hi there, I’m looking for the best way to do it on InDesign :-) Thanks community !
Here’s my project of wish cards.
– I have 17 different collections.
– They can be square (290x 145mm, folded) or A5 folded (double A6)
– They have a different artwork on the facing for all of them
– They all share the same back of the card elements (except that the square ones have different layout than the A5 of course.) But they have a different codebar, collection name and card name that are overriden on each card.
ISSUES : Sometimes, the back of the card needs to be updated / modified
What I’m doing right now :
– I have a different indd file for each collection with the same master (square or A6 version) applied
– I have a master for the back of the card and the artwork placement.
– Whenever updated needs to be done to the back of the card, i have to manually change all the masters of the 17 collections. sometimes overriden items (barcodes, names) will be an issue as the placement has been overriden without really knowing it. That means that i have to be very careful checking each file of the 17 collections everytime I update them.
I’m wondering if there’s a better way to do it ? I started to dig into InDesign ”books” that share the same masters, that will be probably a way to just have 2 files (squares and A6) with a common master, but I’m not even sure it’s the right way.
I’m more an illustrator than a InDesign guy, but if you have any insight to give me, i’ll be happy to educate myself with your ideas !
Thanks a lot !
