      Hello everyone,

I work in print production and I’m responsible for not just the design of a book or pages, but also getting the files prepped and ready for print. As such, I have lots of “tools” that I use to check and re-check pages before they go to press. One of those tools is s droplet that I created from Acrobat that allows me to drop all my final PDF files (that were made from Indesign) to preflight them. When the droplet finds an error (based on the preflight profile it’s using) it will generate a PDF Error report that I can then open up and see where the error is on the page. This error is highlighted in a big red box to indicate where on the page the error is.

Usual errors are more than 4 plates, black is set to knock-out, stuff like that. But lately I’ve been getting almost every page with the following error:

Glyphs missing in embedded font (1 match on 1 page)

When I check the error report it varies from page to page, but either the first line of my body copy is highligted or the entire body copy is highlighted. The only thing that I’ve done recently that is different is change all typed hyphens to non-breaking (via find/change).

I’m using Times (T1) Roman 9pt for the body copy FYI. Not only that, but not every body copy line or block is highlighted with this error…it’s completely baffling to me.

Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way for the preflight profile in Acrobat to have that glyph option just turned off so it doesn’t check for it, or is there something else going on?

      Thanks for any help.
